EA Sports have taken this measure due to a third-party legal dispute, and they have issued a statement to explain the situation.
“Due to a third-party legal dispute, we must suspend Diego Maradona from FIFA Ultimate Team Packs, Ultimate Draft Packs and from Soccer Aid World XI,” read the statement.
“As such, Diego Maradona ICON Items will no longer be made available in Packs, SBCs and FUT Draft and his price range will remain at its current value until further notice.
“We share our fans’ disappointment and hope to bring one of football’s greatest icons back in the game at some point in the future.”
EA Sports are hoping that this situation over the battle for his naming rights will soon be resolved.
According to Infobae, EA Sports signed with Stefano Ceci to obtain these rights, yet he was unable to prove in court that he owned them.
Now, they belong to the lawyer Matias Morla and therefore EA Sports no longer have access to these rights.
A Sad Loss To The Game.
